Zirconia (zirconium dioxide) is a ceramic material with exceptional properties: it's stronger than most metal alloys (flexural strength of 900–1200 MPa), completely biocompatible, tooth-coloured, and able to be bonded directly to tooth structure. Not necessarily — and Dr. Omar will tell you honestly if your existing metalwork is stable. Removing functional restorations without clinical reason is unnecessary.
